About HYGCEL
2020s represent a turning decade for developing and implementing new technologies to produce and store green energy. HYGCEL’s aim is to investigate potential solutions and needs for Hydrogen and Carbon Value Chains in Green Electrification. The research mainly focuses on the Finnish environment and its main outcomes consist of providing practical insights on optimal infrastructure needed and countrywide most suitable value chain. The best value chain will be determined from three different perspectives: market and regulation; techno-economical analysis; sustainability and safety.
HYGCEL is a 2-year Business Finland project started in December 2021, involving several leading Finnish tech-companies. The project is coordinated by CLIC Innovation, and each consortium partner develops an individual research topic in parallel to a central R&D project leaded by LUT University, Tampere University and University of Eastern Finland. Both the individual and the joint project focus on Hydrogen and Carbon Value Chains in Green Electrification.
Our role in HYGCEL
In this context, VaasaETT aims to build a cutting-edge techno-economic optimization model specific for PtH2 systems. The project title is “Techno-economic model framework for evaluating the viability and competitiveness of power-to-hydrogen plus renewable systems”. The main auditors for the model would be investors, technology developers, politicians and other stakeholders interested in PtH2 systems.
We strongly believe that hydrogen will represent a major contributor of system decarbonization. At the same time, there is high uncertainty on how fast, where and for which specific application PtH2 technologies will reach the market breakthrough point. VaasaETT aims to become a market leader for hydrogen consultancy solutions.
