Forecasting Analyst - Energy Markets (Finland)

We are now looking for a Forecasting Analyst based in our Helsinki headquarters. The analyst will join the Energy Price Tracking and Forecasting team and participate in various mid- to long-term forecasting projects related to energy markets. The analyst will support the senior forecasters in their consulting efforts for our clients.

 

The role will include, but not be limited to:

  • Tracking and forecasting global power and fuel prices with a mid- to long-term focus (from 1 month to 10+ years ahead), analyzing market drivers, effects of energy policies or supply risks and modeling their dynamics
  • Understanding power markets’ fundamentals, drivers of power prices, and how energy policies can affect large consumers’ operations and strategic decisions
  • Conducting power markets analysis from a cost and spending perspective to support and optimize our clients’ energy procurement decisions
  • Synthesizing quantitative and qualitative research findings into informative and easy-to-understand deliverables to our clients
  • Building and revising country level energy market scenarios relevant for fossil & renewable fuels, power, and carbon price predictions
  • Continuous collaboration with international colleagues and external contacts

What we expect from you:

  • Relevant Master’s degree, for example: energy engineering, energy markets, energy economics, or other study tracks with energy or economic majors
  • Good quantitative skills and proficiency in MS Office tools, particularly Excel
  • Familiarity with Python programming and quantitative modelling
  • Good understanding of price drivers in energy markets
  • Preferably some experience in price forecasting
  • Analytical mindset, well-structured, and thorough approach to working
  • Ability to logically explain the reasoning behind their result and willingness to modify their view based on new information
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills

As our team keeps growing, we are looking to hire an Energy Market Analyst based in our Helsinki headquarters.

You will join VaasaETT’s Advisory Team, providing regulatory and advisory support for large commercial customers, utilities, associations, and regulators. You will track the main European energy policies affecting data centers & industries and represent VaasaETT in key industry working groups.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Policy Analysis: Track and report on power market and regulatory changes affecting industrial and data center customers
  • Deliverables: Synthesize complex market insights into clear, easy-to-understand reports and presentations for clients
  • Trend Interpretation: Analyze the impact of international development on power procurement, country level energy strategy, and energy supply risks
  • Business development: Contribute to policy-related proposals and help expand our international client base

In this role, you will get to work with an international clientele, build your reporting skills, network and grow your professional career in the energy sector. 

 

Requirements:

  • Education: A relevant Master Degree (e.g., Energy Policy, Environmental Economics, Journalism, or Energy Markets); prior experience in energy markets is heavily favored
  • Communication and Presentation skills: Excellent written and spoken English. You must be able to present complex topics concisely both through PPTs and orally.
  • Topics of interest: A strong interest in (or experience with) power & gas markets, country level energy regulation, grid connection policies, and demand-side flexibility
  • Mindset: A self-starter who works efficiently with an international team but enjoys working independently as well.

 

We consider it as an asset:

  • Previous working experience in energy markets
  • Consultancy, policy advisory background
  • Fluency in other languages, such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Polish, Japanese.
