VaasaETT collects, processes and aggregates data and information on European retail electricity and gas markets in all EU Member States (EU27) and selected non-EU market (Great Britain, Montenegro, Norway, Serbia, Switzerland and Ukraine) and delivering the results to the European Commission on a regular (mostly monthly) basis. Data and information includes retail prices and numerous measures of competitiveness and openness in the different markets. The information is included in DG Ener’s Energy Market Observatory and provides European bodies with a new range of recent and comparable retail market indicators.
The project has been running since 2015 and since then further extensions have been done also adding SME sector to the price data. Automated web-scraping tools have been developed and are being used as part of the data collection procedure to allow collection and aggregation of big volumes of data for multiple regions of selected markets.
This project confirms VaasaETT’s status as one of Europe’s leading source of current and historical data on residential electricity and gas markets. Quarterly European Commission reports can be found here.
