Despoina joined VaasaETT in 2024 as an Energy Market Analyst. Her responsibilities are focused on the collection of household and industrial electricity and gas prices. She participates in price collection and analysis projects, such as the Household Energy Price Index Project (HEPI).
Despoina has earned her master’s degree from the Electrical and Computer Engineering department of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. During her studies she was also a member of the Formula Student team Arist.u.r.t.le that enhanced her interest in power electronics Βioand their application in the automotive industry.
Manohar is an energy market analyst in VaasaETT’s corporate power procurement and sustainability team. He supports C&I clients’ strategic investment decisions in new energy markets around the world through providing market intelligence, market-entry, due diligence, power procurement, prices, and sustainability policies. He has over eight years of experience in the energy sector in engineering, research, consulting, and management. Manohar brings expertise in areas such as electricity networks, renewable projects development, energy markets operations, and grid flexibility.
Manohar holds MSc in Communications Engineering (Ecosystems) from Aalto University and BTech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in India.
Nathaniel joined VaasaETT in November 2024 as an Energy Market Analyst Intern. In this role, he analyzes global energy markets and provides strategic insights into current and future trends, helping to shape strategies in the evolving energy sector.
Nathaniel is currently pursuing a Nordic Double Master’s Degree (MSc) in Innovative Sustainable Energy Engineering from Aalto University and KTH Royal Institute of Technology. He has a strong foundation in energy research, showcased through various projects in renewable energy technology and energy economics.
Dmitry has gone the path in electricity field from installing a lightning system through monitoring transformers and overhead lines to energy market analysis. He joined VaasaETT in the beginning of 2022, and currently he is in the modelling and forecasting team.
Dmitry holds a master’s degree in Automation and Electrical Engineering from Aalto University and a degree in Data Science and Machine Learning. Together they make a perfect match for examining, understanding, and predicting the processes and trends in the energy markets and prices not only in Finland but worldwide.
Nhung joined VaasaETT as an Energy Markets Analyst Intern in October 2024, where she focuses on analyzing various energy markets. With a keen interest in the complexities of global energy systems, she is eager to expand her knowledge and skills through hands-on experience in the field.
Currently, Nhung is pursuing her Master’s degree in the Advanced Energy Solutions program at Aalto University, with a minor in Nuclear Safety. She has completed internships in nuclear radiation protection and environmental consulting, which complement her academic background in energy and environmental engineering. This diverse experience underscores her commitment to understanding and addressing the energy challenges in today’s dynamic landscape.
Since joining VaasaETT in 2019, Chuyi has been a part of VaasaETT’s Corporate Power Procurement team. She performs energy market analysis for countries around the globe and closely monitors the energy regulatory landscape and trends. In addition, she uncovers insights on market structures, power prices, renewable energy procurement opportunities, and provides clients with strategic recommendations to help them achieve their sustainability goals. She is currently managing VaasaETT’s power procurement services and is responsible for the development and execution of a comprehensive energy procurement strategy for VaasaETT’s clients.
Chuyi holds a master’s degree in Economics and Business Administration. Her expertise lies in electricity tariffs, price drivers, energy and climate policies, and power procurement.
Dimitris joined VaasaETT’s Thessaloniki Data Team as a Junior Data Scientist in April 2023. He is involved in the HEPI Project collecting and analysing European energy market data, as well as in the development and maintenance of web crawlers and automated data scraping tools.
He is currently a final year undergraduate student in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He is working on his Diploma Thesis on “A System for Semantic Hierarchical Clustering and Management of Text Documents and Decentralized Domain Specific Q&A.” in order to earn his master’s degree. His interests include data analytics, machine learning, and natural language processing.
Rafaila holds a master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and an MSc in Statistics and Modelling. Her expertise lies in the data science field. She is currently managing the company’s data science team and is responsible for several major public and private projects involving data collection and analysis, including the Household Energy Price Index (HEPI) and a project involving data collection for the European Commission.
Her current responsibilities in terms of her technical expertise lay in machine learning, mathematical modelling, development, testing and evaluation of tools related to modelling and recognising patterns in raw or structured datasets.
Since she joined VaasaETT in 2013 she has conducted the data analysis tasks for numerous major research projects for many leading organisations, such as the European Commission, Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate, the Regulation and Supervision Bureau of Abu Dhabi and ESMIG, while she has also worked in EU-funded research projects (e.g. FP7-Cassandra, FP7-eBadge, H2020-FLEXICIENCY, H2020-NATCONSUMERS, H2020-ASSIST).
Omiros joined VaasaETT in September 2022. He is a Physicist and holds a master’s degree in Energy and Finance from International Hellenic University (IHU). His diploma thesis assessed the effectiveness of time-varying and constant hedge ratio models on natural gas prices in the US considering seasonality and market conditions.
Omiros’s main tasks in the company include being up to date about any changes in gas and electricity markets in Europe including policies, prices and geopolitical changes. Energy and sustainability issues have been his main interests for a long time.
Pankaj joined VaasaETT in March 2023 as an energy market analyst. He researches global energy markets to evolve a holistic perspective on power grids that supports corporate procurement and expansion decisions. Prior to joining VaasaETT, his research focused on modeling and simulation of novel energy storage applications to improve grid-flexibility of power distribution networks and augment grid-inertia of power transmission networks. This research into the emerging grid requirements at different power-network levels enables him to connect the dots across a spectrum of ongoing energy transition related developments, including in energy storage systems, prosumers, electricity markets, energy policy and sector-coupling. He seeks to apply advanced data analytics and modelling frameworks to serve diverse customers in their energy transition journey.
Pankaj has previously pursued social-entrepreneurship full-time for more than five years, serving under-served customers in diffused markets. His project ‘Off-Season Express’ focused on providing end-to-end solar PV system design, installation and grid-connection, in small towns and rural areas, by aggregating and bundling co-located rooftop spaces into one project. This project was part of his larger motivation to enable systemic changes in the fundamental sectors of water, food and energy. He is alumni of the first digital program by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA in “Architecture & Systems Engineering: Models and Methods to Manage Complex Systems”.
He also holds a Master of Science (Technology) in Business Analytics from LUT University, Lappeenranta (Finland); an MBA (rural management) from Institute of Rural Management Anand (India); and a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from BITS Pilani, Pilani (India).
Ioannis joined VaasaETT in 2020 as a member of the data science team, based in our Thessaloniki office. His main tasks include the analysis of energy pricing for household and small-scale commercial customers, while providing support to a wide range of research and consulting projects for leading organisations related to market trends, cost savings, M&A and renewable energy, both in terms of data analysis and delivery. His core areas of expertise include market research, data collection, energy market analysis, data visualisation and energy market article writing.
Ioannis holds a MEng in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His diploma thesis explored the topic of EV charging, with a specific focus on modelling and forecasting electric vehicles’ charging demand and their impact on the grid.
Aino joined VaasaETT 2022 as an energy market analyst. In her work, she is helping customers understand energy markets around the world and decarbonize their electricity procurement.
Aino holds a Master’s degree from Environmental economics from University of Helsinki with wide-ranging studies. She has previously worked as a researcher in several organizations and multidisciplinary teams combining technical, economic, sustainability and art-based know-how. At the core of her research has been transition to zero-carbon energy systems with future-oriented view on organizations and investment decision-making. In addition, she has helped public administrators by delivering statements to sustainability and climate topics. She has extensive understanding of different methodologies and datasets which together with her creativity help her understand complex issues relating to energy markets.
Sami joined VaasaETT as a Senior Energy Market Analyst in 2024. With a solid background from the technology industry and ancillary markets he will strengthen the team’s capabilities regarding demand response and BESS solutions.
Before the joining, he worked at Siemens Finland developing the top-tier demand response and virtual power plant (VPP) solutions. He was responsible for daily operations and market participation strategies of the VPP. The VPP consisted of large-scale batteries, flexible consumption assets and backup generators. As an employee of a global company, he supported teams in other countries in their efforts of promoting similar activities in the respective countries. Additionally, he has conducted policy and legislation analyses regarding energy markets and taxation and their effects on customers.
Sami holds the degree of Master of Science in Engineering from the field of energy engineering with the focus on energy markets from Aalto University, Finland. During the studies he gained wider EU-level perspective of the energy sector during the exchange period at the TU Darmstadt, Germany.
Konstantina joined VaasaETT’s data science team in March 2022 as an Energy Market Analyst. She is involved in many projects regarding data collection and analysis, including the Household Energy Price Index Project (HEPI).
Konstantina holds a master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Her interests include energy markets, smart grids, renewable energy and data analysis.
Originally at the forefront of energy market competition in Great Britain during the onset of full-liberalisation, Philip has 24 years experience supporting consumer focused competition, new business models and energy transition across over 100 energy markets.
High-level public projects have included director of the European Commission’s project identifying barriers to entry in all European markets (2021); lead consultant in the Nordic regulators’ review of market barriers; consultant in the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) review of prices and competition (2018); the world’s largest global stock take of renewable integration projects for the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA); an executive level project identifying requirements for new business model (including community models) for OFGEM; has led two national competition reviews for the Finnish Government; and participated in over two dozen other projects for State and National Governments, the European Commission and national and European authorities.
Philip also co-founded ‘Smart Energy Europe’; a member of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on the Future of Electricity; regularly trains European energy regulators (CEER) in competition issues; a keynote at many key industry events (e.g. EU Sustainable Energy Week; European Utility Week; Eurelectric Annual Convention); a speaker to top international audiences (e.g. World Forum on Energy Regulation and Florence School of Regulation); a former reviewer for the International Journal of Energy Sector Management and the European ‘Energy Efficiency’ Journal; and a former faculty member for the Diploma of Advanced Studies programme in Renewable Energy Management, University of St Gallen Executive School, Switzerland. Dr Lewis is a member of the E.DSO (European Distribution System Operators) Stakeholder and Innovation Council.
Aleksandros is an economist with strong quantitative and theoretical background and a result-driven professional. He joined VaasaETT analyst team in October 2022 and he is mainly working on comprehensive analyses of energy markets around the world.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from University of Macedonia (UOM) and a Master’s degree in Energy & Finance from International Hellenic University (IHU). Econometric and Forecasting methods, Event Studies and Energy Economics have been at the core of his academic work. He is also highly interested in the clean energy transition.
Aleksandros has previously worked as an investment analyst in an insurance company, where as part of his work has provided insight market and economic reports.
Thanh joined VaasaETT in 2024 as a member of the Corporate Power Procurement team, where he supports global clients in making strategic investment decisions in global energy markets. Leveraging his expertise in market structure, energy pricing, sustainable procurement, and energy retail business models, Thanh provides valuable insights into market intelligence, due diligence, power procurement strategies, and sustainability policies.
His background in Supply Chain Management gives him a comprehensive understanding of the energy value chain, enabling him to offer holistic business-focused energy insights to clients looking to expand internationally or develop new energy retail strategies.
Dario joined VaasaETT in Dec 2019 and is part of the Corporate Power Procurement and Sustainability Services team. He is currently leading the energy modelling and forecasting team and his main tasks are: energy markets analysis and forecast, market intelligence, scenario building, analysis of ancillary markets trends, power procurement, and management of “Power-to-X” and energy storage projects.
Dario holds a Nordic Double Master’s Degree (MSc) in Energy Engineering, “Innovative and Sustainable Energy Engineering”, from Aalto University (FI) and KTH Royal Institute (SE).
Aleksi is valuable part of VaasaETT’s Energy Market Analyse and Corporate Power Procurement team. His main tasks include in-depth analyses of energy markets across the globe, that provide strategic insights into current price levels and future price developments. Additionally, he identifies and assesses cost-saving and sustainability possibilities for large electricity customers in the analysed countries.
Aleksi’s studying background in Environmental and Resource Economics (MSc) and his work experience from local and global organizations related to energy and climate policies enable him to provide valuable insights into the interaction of energy markets and regulatory environments. With Aleksi´s wide and multidisciplinary understanding of the energy sector, he is highly qualified to assess energy topics from different perspectives, including economic, policy and sustainability aspects.
Ioannis is a member of the data science team at VaasaETT gathering, analysing and presenting data in the most “user friendly” way possible. He is able to perform statistical analysis to datasets, using data analysis software such as Matlab and tools such as Fourier Transformations, Wavelets and ZAM. His research and data collection become clearer through the interactive visualizations he creates using Microsoft PowerBI.
He is currently involved in multiple projects, including the Household Energy Price Index (HEPI) and a project involving data collection for the European Commission. In such projects, he is offering his expertise in electrical and natural gas energy data collection (renewable energy, conventional energy) of markets around the world and analysis of the behaviour of residential and small-scale commercial energy consumers.
Anastasia joined VaasaETT in 2021. She is managing media relations and corporate communications, focusing primarily on the company’s digital presence.
With more than 10 years of experience in the media sector, Anastasia’s expertise lies in media relations, content creation and creative writing. As a journalist, she has covered for several years energy, environmental and international affairs.
She holds a university degree in Journalism and Mass Media Communication from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and an MSc in History of International Relations from London School of Economics.
Iliana has been a member of the data science team of VaasaETT since 2019. She holds a master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and an MSc in Electrical and computer Engineering from Democritus University of Thrace focused on applications of data stream techniques to environmental data flows.
Currently, she is involved in several projects including the Household Energy Price Index (HEPI) and a project around data collection and analysis of current and historical European residential energy prices for the European Commission. Her interests revolve around data collection and analysis, as well as scraping and web crawling of various data sources.
Ioannis joined VaasaETT’s data team in April 2023 as a Data Scientist. He is involved mainly in the HEPI project, a project that collects and analyzes data of electricity and gas markets from 33 country capitals throughout Europe. His tasks include developing automated systems for data collection using web scraping and crawling, while also analyzing the relation between electricity and gas consumption and their retail price.
He holds a MEng in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His main interests include programming and data analysis, especially combined with economy and finance, while also data modelling and forecasting. Before joining VaasaETT, he worked as an intern in database management and research.
Emilio joined VaasaETT in September 2023 as an Energy Markets Analyst. In this role, he is dedicated to synthesizing complex market insights into actionable recommendations. From understanding power market operations to identifying opportunities in renewable energy procurement, he is committed to navigating the dynamic landscape of global energy markets.
He’s currently completing a MSc in Advanced Energy Solutions, majoring in Energy Systems and Markets which brings a strong academic foundation to his work. Prior to VaasaETT, his experience included engineering consulting roles contributing to projects in green ammonia, GHG calculations, and solar energy project development.
Eirini joined VaasaETT in 2023 as an Energy Market Analyst. She is mainly involved in the collection of data on both electricity and gas markets. She participates in price collection and analysis projects, such as the Household Energy Price Index Project (HEPI).
Eirini is an Environmental Engineer from Democritus University of Thrace and holds a Master’s Degree in Energy and Finance from International Hellenic University. Her primary focus is on environmental sustainability, with an interest in green technologies and efficient energy systems. Her area of concern is finding ways to promote clean energy sources by mitigating climate change effect, aiming to a sustainable future.
Nelli joined VaasaETT in March 2022 as an Energy Market Analyst Intern. As a part of the Corporate Power Procurement and Sustainability Services team her tasks include working with complex electricity markets as well as examining possibilities for granular emissions tracking and renewable energy procurement.
Nelli’s academic background lays in Environmental and Resource Economics providing a broad understanding in energy economics and policy. Additionally, her experience in different global and local organizations has given her an in-depth understanding on global issues in sustainability and development.
Prabhat joined VaasaETT in December 2022 as an Energy Market Analyst. He is currently the Lead for the HYGCEL project (Power to Hydrogen). His work focuses on developing the technical-economic model framework for the viability and competitiveness of hydrogen with renewable systems.
He also has prior work experience in the US Energy Sector, working as a wholesale power market analyst within MISO and SPP region. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s in Energy System Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. He is currently on track to finish his second master’s from Aalto University, Finland, in Energy Systems and Markets.
His academic background includes several multidisciplinary topics within the energy sector, such as power systems, thermal engineering, sustainable buildings, renewable energy systems, energy management, policy analysis and energy markets.
Piero assumed the role of Energy Market Analyst at VaasaETT in March 2024. His primary responsibilities include in-depth research on global energy markets and the delivery of strategic insights that empower informed decision-making and foster strategic growth for organizations on a global scale.
Piero brings over 20 years of extensive experience in research and market intelligence, having worked across both corporate and consultancy/agency domains. His expertise spans diverse fields, including electricity distribution networks, structured cabling in LAN and Data Centers, renewable energy and heating systems markets. Piero´s global reach extends to conducting primary research in markets across Europe, APAC, and the MEA region.
His academic background includes a Master’s degree in Economics, an MBA, and a Master’s degree in International Studies from the University of Trento in Italy. Additionally, he has been awarded scholarships to conduct research and studies in both the USA and Finland.
Lucie became a member of VaasaETT in January 2018, assuming the role of Administrative Manager with a diverse array of responsibilities. While she handles a wide spectrum of tasks, her primary focus lies in efficiently managing the company´s administration, finances and human resources.
Lucie´s expertise lies particularly in the areas of budget development, implementation, and assessment, all of which are crucial in achieving the financial objectives of VaasaETT´s projects. Her role extends to meticulous monitoring of expenditures and financial management. She has also several years of experience in managing administration, budgets, and financial reporting of EU-funded projects.
With over a decade of administrative experience across various office environments, ranging from information technology to services industries, Lucie´s skillset is multifaceted. Before joining VaasaETT, she worked in the asset management sector, further enriching her professional background.
Janne joined VaasaETT in December 2023 as an Energy Market Modeling Analyst. His primary focus entails modeling and forecasting of diverse global energy markets. Furthermore, he is engaged in the development of models and analytical tools helping large electricity consumers in achieving the most cost-effective and environmentally sustainable solutions.
Janne holds an MSc in Sustainable Energy Systems and Markets from Aalto University. His elective courses were centered around Computer Science and Data Science. His expertise is rooted in the combination of Energy Market and Data Science knowledge.
George joined VaasaETT’s data science team in October 2023. His main involvement is with the Household Energy Price Index (HEPI), a price collection and analysis project for 33 European countries. His main responsibilities in all the projects he is involved in are collection of data, transformation and analysis.
At the moment, he is pursuing an integrated master’s degree in electrical and computer engineering at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, bound to receive his degree soon. His interests include machine learning, data and anything tech related. Before joining VaasaETT, he was an intern at a fintech company, mainly tasked with data cleaning and analysis for investment management.
Graham joined VaasaETT in 2023 as an energy market analyst in our corporate power procurement and sustainability team. He researches global energy markets to support sustainable investment decision making.
An accomplished energy professional, Graham has more than a decade of experience helping clients in business and academia understand energy markets. His areas of expertise include the electricity, oil and gas markets, sustainability, and political risk. Graham holds a PhD in Government from the University of Essex, where he focused on British nuclear power policy and ecological modernization.
Anastasia joined VaasaETT in 2023, as an Energy Market Analyst. Her approach begins with the collection and analysis of data on both electricity and gas markets. Simultaneously, she is in charge of creating demand forecasting models for all energy sectors.
Anastasia is a Mechanical Engineer and a PhD candidate in the field of smart grid and strategic management at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). As part of her research, she took part in several European projects aimed at risk management and the development of sustainable energy systems. Energy management systems, green solutions, and machine learning are all areas and tools that pique her interest. Her ultimate goal is to contribute with her research in the growth of cities.
Niloufar joined VaasaETT in October 2022 as an Energy Market Modelling Analyst. Her current work focuses on modelling and forecasting the fundamentals and dynamics of power markets and prices around the world and developing and enhancing energy price forecasting models.
She holds a master’s degree in electrical power engineering from the University of Shahid Beheshti, Tehran, Iran. Previously, she was a research and teaching assistant in the department of electrical engineering and automation at Aalto University, Finland. Her academic work includes topics in power systems, smart grids, optimization and energy markets.
